I’m a medical doctor currently undergoing my specialisation, training as a gynaecologist / obstetrician at Thun hospital, Spital STS AG Thun. From January 1st, 2017 the training will draw to its conclusion at Insel University Hospital Bern, Switzerland. I was born and brought up in Nepal, but did my major schooling and medical training in Switzerland. Having seen the vast differences between developing and developed countries from a young age, my goal has always been to be of help to people with limited resources in areas that lack good quality health care. During my internship in India I met my husband Sungtiakum Jamir, who shared that same interest in serving people in need. After having worked in south India with a community who formed the lowest strata of the caste system in India, we realised the necessity of specialised health care in such areas. Therefore I decided to complete my training in obstetrics and gynaecology here in Switzerland before emerging on a greater adventure and investing my knowledge and abilities amongst the Nagas.
I come from a region of India called Nagaland and was drawn to work in rural communities in India as a medical doctor after completing my studies in Assam, India. I completed my post graduate studies in the field of Rural Surgery so that I could be more useful in resource deficient areas. As stated by Nadia, we were drawn to each other because of our passion to serve people in areas where we felt most needed. We believe that however much or however little we manage to do or accomplish, it will be a future stepping stone for like-minded people to serve people among the marginalized and resource-deficient regions.
I am a Christian and love to help where ever God leads me. Sungti and Nadia are two of my closest friends. The first time, they told me about their plans to build a hospital in Nagaland to make medical health care available for those who have none, I fell in love with this project! What manly motivates me to help in this project is the idea of being a testimony and a light to the poorest, by assisting them getting health care they could never afford. I thank God that in my capability as Software Engineer He has been pleased to use me in areas like. I love helping people with all that I have for the Glory of Christ. My Father Herbert, came along for the ride by assisting Sungti and Nadia with the architectural challenges, which makes me very proud of him.
